About Us
Doney Abraham grew up in Oklahoma City and loves calling this city home. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Minor in Physics from the University of Oklahoma, with an emphasis on Mathematical Modeling and Simulation. He also earned a Systems Engineering Professional Certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his college career, Doney interned at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Center (URC), as well as at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) / Caltech. At JPL, Doney worked with researchers at the Harvard University Department of Astronomy on a telescope designed to detect planets near bright stars, undetectable by conventional telescopes. In addition, he has worked for decades as an engineer, chief engineer, and senior manager in the aerospace and defense industries including at Raytheon and Boeing. He is married and has two boys in elementary school. Doney enjoys spending time with family, playing basketball and chess with his kids, supporting the OKC Thunder, and keeping up with the latest in technology and AI. He also loves teaching his kids who are in a blended classroom / homeschool environment. Doney has always had a passion for mathematics stemming from elementary school, and he enjoys sparking that interest in kids. He believes that all kids can enjoy and excel in math with the right instruction and foundation, and he is excited to share this love of math with others.
Roney Abraham was a senior engineering manager at Boeing before co-founding Take Flight Tutoring with his twin brother. He and his wife have one son who is in elementary school. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching the OKC Thunder with his son, and playing basketball. Roney holds a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on Computational Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma. He has published over a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers in engineering (sample). Additionally, he earned a Professional Certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Systems Engineering. He has worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory / California Institute of Technology, where he contributed to upgrades for NASA's Deep Space Network, the world's largest and most sensitive scientific telecommunications system, enabling data collection from both our solar system and interstellar space. He later joined Boeing and held roles at multiple levels including senior engineer, engineering manager, and senior manager. When his son joined the blended program at a local Christian school, where students split their time between classroom learning and homeschooling, he discovered his passion for teaching children and helping them reach their full potential. Inspired by this, he decided to pursue that calling with Take Flight Tutoring.
